Easter...why is the candy so sweet?

Every holiday comes with its signature sweets. But in my opinion, Easter candy is the BEST! I am Agnostic and don't go to church but I do love the pagan traditions of Easter, and I don't know why candy is such a part of it, but I LOVE it. No other holiday brings out the best in candy makers like Easter. Oh, there are candies at other holidays, but none is as unique and once a year only like Easter.

Here is a list of the candies that do me in at Easter time.
Robin eggs - Malted milk balls covered in a candy shell that turns your tongue colors when you eat it. NOT the mini ones, the ratio of malt ball to candy shell is totally off and I don't like these.

Reese's peanut butter eggs - These are totally AWESOME! The peanut butter in these is different than what they put in the normal peanut butter cups and it is delicious!

Cadbury Eggs - Those sugar overloaded cream filled chocolate eggs that give you a sugar rush on the first lick of the cream, talk about once a year! I think Cadbury has the market on the once a year thing. There is something to these I even get a rush from pealing off the foil in anticipation of the deliciousness inside.

Cadbury mini eggs - These are Cadbury signature chocolate eggs with a candy coating. Not like M&Ms at all. The chocolate is richer and the candy shell is thicker and not shiny. The minute I see these I buy 2 bags because they usually sell out. This year I was amazed to see them on the Easter clear out sale at Walmart. I only bought one more bag to save me from myself because I knew they would both be gone in a week.

Peeps - Easter would not be Easter without these sugar bombs. Sugar covered marshmallows, yum! Although Peeps are now popping up at other holidays (I've seen them at Halloween and Christmas), they will always be a signature Easter candy.

Hoffman's Chocolate Bunnies - These aren't joking around, they are solid delicious chocolate! Not those crappy hallow ones with the candy eyes you see all broken up in the package on the shelf at Walmart. Hoffman's is a local chocolate maker where I grew up in south Florida. When I was young my Mom would get me a white chocolate and milk chocolate bunny. They were perfect.

Starburst jelly beans - I usually lean towards chocolate, but these little morsels are like a sugar fruit party in your mouth. I like Starburst candy anyway, and although the texture isn't the same in the jelly beans, the flavor is there.
AND OMG! I found this video of the Cadbury factory.

So there you go. This is why I break my sugar fast at Easter time.
